Q, the yellow two-question guide, waving hello.

AI at work · fictional workplace scenes

One ranking, different questions

One ranking can hide different opportunities to show the work. Otto compares two fictional candidates from a panel’s notes. One received a practical scheduling exercise; the other answered a general teamwork question. The scores look aligned in the deck, but Ollie cannot find comparable evidence for the role’s scheduling responsibility.

Why it looked good

The same numeric scale makes different exercises look equivalent. Matching score labels do not make the underlying evidence comparable.

Q1 · What is this really for?

What common job task must both candidates have an opportunity to demonstrate?

Q2 · Who decides, and did they?

Who approves the comparison method, and have they agreed how to address the different interview questions?

The next move

Ollie separates the noncomparable scores and asks Casey to agree on a consistent assessment step before the panel ranks that responsibility.
