Q, the yellow two-question guide, waving hello.

The meeting summary that invented a decision

A meeting summary can record a decision nobody made. Otto writes “Team agreed: launch Friday” in bold and assigns an owner. The CEO praises the tidy notes and wants them sent to everyone. But Casey, the client who decides the launch date, was not in the room.

Why it looked good

The clean, confident bullets arrived seconds after the meeting. Praise made them look ready to send, even though the meeting never chose a date and Casey had not approved Friday.

Q1 · What is this really for?

What is this summary really for? To show what people actually decided, with open questions kept separate from agreed decisions.

Q2 · Who decides, and did they?

Who decides the launch date, and did they? Casey decides. Casey had not approved Friday; the date is the 30th.

The next move

Remove “Team agreed: launch Friday” from the decisions. Ask Casey to confirm the 30th before sharing a corrected summary that separates confirmed decisions from proposals and open questions.
