Fictional workplace practice · draft materials

Print & practice

Before you promise a deadline or a scope change, try a fictional request. Choose a writing worksheet, cards for a pair, or a scene you can replay on screen.

Write through a request

The practice workbook has six fictional workplace cases across 12 US Letter pages. Each case gives you two pages to write your questions, propose a plan and name the decision still open. Use pencil or pen; the PDF has no fillable fields.

Print all pages at Actual size / 100%. For two-sided printing, flip on the long edge.

Practice with a partner

The printable deck has 18 situation cards and 18 matching question cards on four US Letter sheets. The exercises adapt nine fictional cases. Draw a situation, suggest two questions, then compare with its matching question card. Take turns; an answer you do not have can stay unknown.

A second printable supplement adds six more situation cards, each with a matching question card, plus a one-page play guide. Download the V2 practice cards (US Letter PDF, 164 KB)

Practicing solo, with a partner or as a team? Open the one-page play guide (page 3 of the V2 deck PDF) for setup and turn-by-turn instructions.

Print single-sided at Actual size / 100%, with fit-to-page off. Check a border measures 2.5 × 3.5 inches before cutting. Your printer needs 0.25-inch top and bottom margins.

Explore what your choice leaves open

The stakeholder simulator lets you ask two questions in each of twelve fictional scenes, read preset replies and compare actions. Try another pair or another action to see what changes. It needs JavaScript; nothing is saved across reloads.

Keep the decision open until it is confirmed

All people, workplaces and AI coworkers here are fictional. A practice outcome does not predict a real coworker’s reply, and a feasible proposal still needs its owner’s confirmation. Keep real names and confidential details out of your notes. Read the practice disclaimer.

Planning a group session? The team practice page has session outlines and facilitator materials. For notes to adapt to a real conversation, choose a working template.

Leading a team session? Download the team-session slides (PDF, 260 KB) to walk the group through worked examples, paired practice and a debrief.
